Abstract
[Objective/Significance] As globalization and informatization continue to deepen, the characteristics of organized crime being transnational, widespread, and intricate have grown increasingly prominent. Therefore, strengthening research on organized crime has become an urgent matter. By exploring the current state, hotspots, and trends in international organized crime research, this study aims to promote the theoretical and practical development of organized crime research in China. [Method/Process] Using bibliometric methods and CiteSpace visual analysis software, we analyzed 2,263 pieces of literature related to organized crime research published from 2011 to 2023, retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection database. The analysis included authorship analysis, country of issuance analysis, and keyword co-occurrence analysis. [Results/Conclusions] Research on organized crime has shown a high rate of development in recent years; wildlife trafficking, drug smuggling and criminal networks are the main research hot spots; the rise of multidisciplinary research, the introduction of computer technology and international cooperation are important trends for future development.
